The Quest For a Coveted Cigar, Part I

Mission: To seek and acquire a very coveted cigar, the cigar smoked by presidents, and named after their mistresses.

The Team:
5SS - Chief Investigator, Lead Researcher

Uncle Chito - Head Hunter, Master Driver

Kuya Lars - Botswain, Personal Protection

First, start the quest with a hearty breakfast.
Secret ingredient - pancit a la Auntie Bel.

The hunt begins at 9AM sharp.

First Stop, an overpriced retail shop on P Street, Makati.

2nd Stop
As a small child, Uncle Chito used to play outside the gates of this compound, shooting rocks over the fence with a slingshot.

No wonder the large gated entrance is now guarded by personnel armed with M-16's.
(Warning to children with slingshots: do not play here!)

We're in!

Lunch Break.
"Jollibee again?"

"Uncle Chito, are we getting closer yet? My body is a mass of cramps from sitting in the back seat all day!"

3rd Stop.
Hmmm, is this the right place?

Indeed it is. This fellow is an internet vendor, but he was so kind as to give us his source.

Asking for directions.
"Make a right at the mango tree before the overpass. You'll know you're at the right place when you see the Indian scout."

Before leaving America, 5SS was asked by a friend to find him an Indian statue on this trip. Is this an auspicious sign?

Kuya Lars keeping the guard distracted.
"Cigars are overrated; here, have a cigarette..."

5SS plays his strategy.
"Yes ma'am, I'll buy your cigars under one condition: that you give me your source."

Thanks Indian Scout. We're off to find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

The rainbow ended here.

Notice only two men are carrying bags.

Another auspicious sign?
(Look closely, and you'll see Netty in the picture. Hint: her eye is shut.)

How long would it take to smoke this thing?

Notice, all three men are now carrying bags. The sign of a successful quest.

With sources information stowed in the safety of their wallets and cell phones, the team retires for a two week hiatus before resuming the quest.

When in the Philippines, Do What the Pinoys Do

In America they wear bikini swim suits.
In the Philippines, long sleeves and pants.

Let's go swimming!

Tide's up, take a dip.

Ready! All dressed up for a swim.

Seriously? Pajamas for swim suits?

Hnh, I guess they're serious about their bathing suits.
"Do you have food in your pockets by any chance?"

Well now, this swimmer is dressed a little strange...
(Notice the kid's face, he's confused about this outfit.)

The Ice Cream Man pays a visit at the beach.

Ice cream and swimming go hand in hand.

Ice cream? Did someone mention food? Feed me, feed me, feed me!

[Former] Party Girl Ain

Cousin Ain was a party girl. Key word here being WAS

Now... She's Miss Conservative, a bench warmer along with 5-Star Scotty. Then again, perhaps country music just isn't her cup of tea.

Place: Georgetown, south of The City.

We were here to watch my friend's band.

There's my friend, The Boxster, on bass guitar. He plays in The Rachel Mae Band.

And this is Rachel. Her latest album is called Circle on the Floor.

Ain, Are your feet twitchin' yet?

And who, at one point in their younger years, never went dancing? It's an island thing. Cheers!

An Ailing House

Cousin Ain found a puddle of water at the base of her tub. In her frustration, she took out a
hammer to put a hole through the tiles to see if she could figure out the source of the leak...

Two cities away, 5-Star Scotty (5SS) was sipping on jet fuel in an energy drink can. It sharpens his senses.
And lo, he heard a cry...

"Mahderrr, mahderrr I am sick. Coll da doctorrr berrrry quick. Doctorrr, doctorrr shall I die? Tell my mahderrr 'do not crrry'." -Yoyoy Villame

Thus, 5SS and his trusty sidekick Netty rushed to the rescue.
No, Netty did not forget to rotate the photo before posting it. That is 5SS lying on the dryer, unhooking the vent so that he can pull it away from the wall of the ailing house.

Scalpel!

Saw blade!
Note the unsterile winter gloves used
to hold the disposable saws-all blade...

Exposing the supply guts...
No hemorrhaging here...

Exposing the drain gut.
No hemorrhaging here either...

"Good news: none of these pipes are leaking
Bad news: the leak is way farther in the walls..."
(Note the jet fuel in 5SS's hand.)

Hmph! My ailing house.
